Sha is a first-generation immigrant and a resident of San Carlos. He earned a PhD in Chemistry from Penn State University before moving to California for work. As a commissioner, he is deeply committed to advocating for the rights and visibility of LGBTQ individuals, with a particular focus on supporting LGBTQ immigrants and other underrepresented groups. Having experienced the challenges of belonging to multiple marginalized communities, he strives to amplify their voices and ensure they have the support and resources necessary to thrive.

In his professional life, Sha works in pharmaceutical development within the pharmaceutical industry. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, fishing, and supporting environmental conservation efforts, particularly in the protection of salmon and their habitats. He believes in nurturing both our communities and the environment, bringing that same dedication to his role as a commissioner.
